About

The purpose of this blog is to communicate some of my thoughts on Peace, Civilization, Earth(our ecosystem), Species Diversity, exploring Human Potential and moving this intelligent life form into the Future. Ultimately I wish to help create a more just civilization in which humans do not contribute to suffering and the ecosystem is cherished and respected.

Regarding the part about “humans contributing to suffering”: we do not as yet have control over natural forces such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and tsunami but far more human suffering is actually caused by humans ourselves. For an example one only has only to look as far as a regime which prevents its citizenry from having enough food or which dictates who can or cannot gain an education. If one adds up all of the people living under unjust rulers (whether they are religious or secular) the total is many, many times the number of people who are affected by natural disasters. This is a tragedy because it is not necessary. We have the power to change this because it is “we” who are causing the issue in the first place

Some of my concepts may be seen as “way out there” by some. When I write of the future I am not thinking only of the near future but also millions of years out. Yes, there can be a biological presence millions of years into the future and hopefully it will include some version of us.

We don’t have a very good track record for living peacefully in a sustainable manner. In our past there have always been various groups all maneuvering for power in violent struggles. We have hunted various species to extinction and others to near extinction. We have treated this biosphere worse than our own property. We have treated it like we were thieves and it was someone else’s property, to be plundered as fast as possible before the owner came home.

We have the intelligence, knowledge and technology to live peacefully and sustainability. We simply need to make the commitment and do it.

Soon I will start spelling out my plan for peace. As of this writing my plan has eight parts. One of the parts is very basic and I believe deals with the root cause of all war. It has to do with an agreement that we have all made. If we were to universally change this agreement, all war would stop. I’m going to save this basic cause of war for last since there are sub-causes which must be addressed as well.

More soon.
